AC Barrie |
- PBR certified
- very high yield
- high protein
- short, strong straw
Hard red spring wheat that has performed very well in all areas of the Prairies. Highest yielding in almost all trials and in all areas. Lodging resistance is good. Stronger straw and good shattering resistance makes straight cutting crop easier. Ideal height and stronger straw makes straw management easier. Good resistance to both bunt and loose smut reduces the need for seed treatment to control these diseases. Good leaf and stem rust resistance. Variety also has larger seed for more vigorous early growth. 1-2 days later than Katepwa. A truly outstanding variety. - Developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Swift Current.

Superb (BW252) |
- 15% higher yield than AC Barrie
- Fair resistance to Fusarium
- Resistant to prevalent leaf & stem rust
- shorter, stronger straw than AC Barrie
- Later maturing than AC Barrie
Superb is a hard red spring wheat from the Cereal Research Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada at Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is a very exciting new variety that yields about 15% more than AC Barrie and is resistant to prevalent races of leaf and stem rust. It will probably receive a rating of "fair" resistance to fusarium, the same as AC Barrie. Superb has shorter, stronger straw and has more resistance to sprouting than AC Barrie but is a couple of days later than AC Barrie, which will be a concern in some areas. - Excellent yield
- Excellent Harvestability
Taurus provides excellent yields, especially in the black soil zones. Taurus yielded 114% of the check in SK provincial trials, 109% in AB and 110% in MB. Taurus provides a medium height flax with excellent lodging resistance. Taurus is easy to handle and combines easy. |
Winter Wheat |
CDC Clair |
- high yield
- good winter hardiness
- short, strong straw
Higher yields than CDC Kestrel means better returns. Good winter survival improves chances of good crop. The shorter, stronger straw of this "tall semi-dwarf" is a significant advantage over Norstar. Improved stem rust resistance makes it better adapted to Manitoba. Higher protein levels than CDC Kestrel will increase returns and increase demand in export markets. - Developed by the University of Saskatchewan.Winter Wheat |
